For us, the Little League season is officially over. Nicholas' team played in the city tournament with the other 21 teams. Double elimination. Good news: They won their first game. That meant they played their 2nd game while we were out of town. Sadly, they lost that game. But they did win the 3rd game (played later that same afternoon). It allowed Nicholas to play in one final game on Monday night (lost, 11 to 12). A game they should've won but didn't. Oh well. Life's all about winning some and losing some.
The final 4 teams are duking it out and we're pulling for one of our league's teams to take it all. Apparently (in years past), the other league has been the powerhouse. This year, we had more of our teams take early wins so have been represented well. Finals are this weekend.
But wait...there's more. Nicholas will be playing on a tournament team. There was so much talent at tryouts that they are fielding two tournament teams (besides the All-Star Team...aka the A Team). He'll be playing the C team. And for playing purposes, that's better.
You see, one of Nicholas' teammates/friends from the league team was selected to the B team. Definitely an honor. However, as one of the last to be selected (on the bubble), hopefully he'll get some playing time. When you get to tournaments and the game is on the line, the kids at the lower end of the lineup may not see as much time on the field.
On the C team, Nicholas will be in the top half of the skill mix (my opinion, of course) so I expect he'll get to see plenty of playing time. Nicholas thinks that's great cuz he loves to play ball. We think that's great because he'll have more opportunities to practice and hone his skills.
Gotta love this game!
