It's all about BASEBALL!

Let me tell ya, it's been a fun day at the parks. Yes, more than one venue today.

Started at 8am with Nicholas' game. Nice weather, even at that hour. No wind (THAT's the kicker) so we were lovin' it. Nicholas ended up pitching just one inning but he had a great outing. When all was said and done, they won 12-1. Whoohoo! Then, about half the team head back out onto the field for some sliding practice. Oh goodie! Think some of the kids probably brought home a couple pounds of dirt in their shoes, socks, pants, etc.

Two of his teammates came home with us (a very short stay there) and got in about 25 minutes of Wii baseball. Then, we went 3 blocks away to the ball field near our home and watched a freshman baseball game. The eldest son of our kids' godparents was playing. Let me tell ya...after you've just watched all these little 8/9/10 year olds, those freshman boys (or should I say young men) are HUGE! They are SO tall! Of course, they pitch/hit/throw/run so much harder/farther/faster. Big difference!

After a quick drive to the middle school to drop off Samantha (they have a dance performance today), we headed to our league's ball park for the just-completed fundraiser awards' ceremony. The top two teams (sales-wise) for each league win a special something. Last year, our team took second in sales and won a hot dog lunch after one of their baseball games. This year, our team won first! So, the team gets a $100 certificate for a pizza party at a local pizza place. Think we'll use it for our end-of-season celebration! How cool is that! One of Nicholas' teammates had the most sales and won a $100 gift card to a local sporting goods store. His mom (who is also our team mom) won the drawing for a Starbuck's gift card. Talk about a winning day!
