"Madeline" on stage

After many weeks of rehearsals, this year's Spring production of "Madeline" hit the stage this weekend. Samantha was so excited when they first started rehearsing (back in early February). Of course, any time she gets to dance with her friends, it's a great time. But she was also one of two Junior Company dancers who were given roles requiring them to learn a short combination that they performed with several Senior Company dancers. Needless to say, she was over-the-moon excited!

We watched today's performance and, I must say, she danced beautifully! Very expressive in her dancing -and- her stage performance. I know...you're thinking I've gotta say this cuz I'm her mom. That may be true (the "mom" part) but she really did have a wonderful performance. And it was doubly special because one of her nanas was in the audience. Yes, Audrey came with us and she was tickled to see her granddaughter dance. When Samantha came out to join us after the show, Audrey didn't recognize her. Samantha still had on her stage makeup which makes her look so much older (still beautiful but MUCH-TOO-MUCH older)! On our way to take Audrey home, Samantha finished taking off all that makeup, to which Audrey proclaimed, "Now, THERE's my Samantha!". Don't even wanna think about the coming teen years and makeup and...

After dropping off Audrey, we headed out for dinner. We let Samantha pick the location (she'd earned it). So, we headed to P.F. Chang's (....that's my girl!....). Great meal (as usual) without a wait (pleasant surprise)!

Back home now, getting ready to turn in for the evening. Tired from the busy weekend, but it was a great one. Samantha and Nicholas, so proud of you both!
