The BEST phone call!

Last night, Mat took a call from Nicholas’ teacher. She was calling for two reasons.

1. On Tuesday, Nicholas forgot to bring home his lunch bag. When the teacher realized this, she placed the bag under his desk and told him that together, they would work to remind him to take it home. Well, it was forgotten until Thursday. She was calling to apologize for not holding up her part of the bargain. As Mat told her, it’s really his responsibility (to remember to bring it home each day). It’ just that he’s not into the groove. As a kindergartener last year, he didn’t take lunch to school. But it was still very nice of her to mention.

2. She then told Mat, “Nicholas is sooo smart!” Sure we’re biased, but yes, we know just how sharp our little guy is. She proceeded to share how great he’s been with assisting his tablemates and helping to keep them “on task”. WOW! What an incredible thing to hear. Not only because it’s awesome to know our son is doing so well in his first week of school, but also to have a teacher take the time to make the call. When you get a call from the teacher, it’s typically to let you know about some not-so-good thing that happened. How refreshing to hear about a neat thing!

That's great! A little forgetfulness is very common at his age, but how nice to hear such good comments from his teacher!
