Yes, last week was THAT time of year again. And as always, we started with a family breakfast at IHOP then drove off to school. But this time, it was a little different.
First of all, Samantha is now “king of the hill”…as in “big, bad fifth grader”. The oldest grade at her school. Not sure if that will cause any changes not. We’ll have to wait and see.
The other major difference? Nicholas is changing schools. Since he is now in the local gifted program, he will be bussed to another school in the district. A little bit anxious, a little bit unsure. Oh, not him….ME! Well, perhaps he is too, but he’s not showing it. We walked him to the bus loading zone and found the bus he’ll be taking. Introduced him to the driver (she seemed very nice) and off he went. Mat and I followed behind, so we’d know the route, too. Then watched as he walked into his room.
At the end of the day, I met the bus and got both kids. Both said they had a great day (a big sigh of relief uttered by mom). I know the bus ride is pretty cool for our guy. Maybe that was enough to start the day off right.
