Play it again, Sam!

I soooo wanted to yell that out at last night's talent show at Samantha's school. You see, ever since Samantha started to play the piano, we've been waiting for her school to have a talent show. They used to have them...right up until the year she started taking piano lessons. Then, for the past 4 years, nothing! Until this year. And from the looks of things, other families were waiting to. You see, the last talent show (all those many years ago) resulted in 20-something acts. This year, there were 70+. So many that they had to split the group into two different nights. Samantha performed on the second evening. That would be last night.

Oh, she did such a fabulous job! She played "Spinning Daydreams" and it sounded so beautiful. I always get teary-eyed when she plays. And she gave the audience a real treat. She was one of six pianists of varied levels. Here she was, introducing herself, then playing. The piano was at a very bad angle onstage so all you could see were the pianists' backs. But at least we were front-and-center (Mat and Nicholas arrived early to save us seats).


And singers...lots of singers! Most were girls (though one boy with a very nice voice did a great job). All but one sang to a popular song with popular singer. Luckily, they had the kids' mike up louder and the music softer so the original artist didn't drown out the grade school gals. One very young girl (couldn't be older than 3rd grade, if that) not only sang a cappella but also sang a song that she wrote. Very pretty!

Oh, and back in November, Nicholas performed in HIS talent show. He, too, played the piano - "The Buzzing Bee". It's a very fast and rather difficult piece. He did a great job with it. Anything fast, Nicholas prefers!
