THEY are at the zoo. The Oregon Zoo, that is. This is where we spent the better part of the day. We got there before the crowds. Actually, it was pretty cold at first. But if you stayed in the sun, it was fine. The weather warmed up as the morning progressed and it was a great day to be there. They were doing some major construction in their Africa area but we did get to see a tiger and zebras and elephants....and the baby elephant! Oh, he was so cute. His name is Sam and he kept close to his mama and daddy.
The penguins and sea lions were very active. OH, and we got to see the bald eagles as they flew in their habitat. Even during those very short flights, these creatures are soooo majestic. Makes ya proud to be an American...and have them be symbolic of this great nation of ours.
And there was a Polynesian show at the main stage and we got to see many of the dances of the islands.
We opted for a late lunch and headed to TGIF. YUMMERS! Then a quick trip to the mall (again) and Burlington Coat Factory (picked up a couple of new coats) before heading to the hotel for a swim before a late night snack.
This has been a wonderful vacation!
