Yes, the day we've been counting down to since last August. Okay, if you ask Nicholas anyway. Opening Day of the 2010 baseball season was this past Saturday! Mat and Nicholas' team had the 1:45 game, which was bumped back 30 minutes due to late finish of the game just before ours.
When the dust settled, our team lost 8-5. However, it was a great start to the season! Since our team didn't fair as well in the draft as the other teams (including the one we played), we have a long hard road ahead of us. But today, even missing one of our key players due to a wrestling tournament, we were able to stay in the game. And as a proud mom, I have to say that Nicholas had a great outting. He started as our pitcher and did what he had to do, striking out 7 of the first 8 batters. Included amongst that list were 3 of his teammates from last year's 9 year-old All Star team, and the other team's coach was the All Star Team's acting coach for most of the summer. Way to go, Nicholas!
Two more games on the docket this week. Let's play us some ball!
