Last tournament before headed to State. Another local one hosted by our rival league, KA. As a whole, this wasn't a great tourney for our boys. Recap....
Game 1 vs. Warriors: Once again, we played the Warriors from our town. Would be nice to play other teams but you play the cards that you are dealt. We ended up 10-running them, although the team looked sluggish as a whole. Though he didn't pitch this game, Nicholas played some out field and 2nd base, making a couple of great plays there. WTG, my luv!
Game 2 vs. West Linn: This team is from the west side of our state. And from early indications, we were expecting a powerhouse (they had beaten the KA All-Stars earlier in the day). Nicholas and his team mates pulled out all the stops and 10-runned them, 14-3. And our little guy had a great appearance on the mound.
Game 3 vs. KA Tournament Team: Last night's late game (we had the last game of the night) + today's early game (we had the first game of the morning) + key defensive mistakes + lack of offense = one run loss. Gee, wonder who we have to thank for the scheduling in this tournament? Hmmmmm......
At end of pool play, we are 2-1. However, due to the way this tourney was set up (one large 9-team pool instead of 2 or 3 smaller pools), we still came out #2 in the pool (based on runs against). Kelso was undefeated and #1. We were scheduled to play Pasco in our first bracket game, but they pulled out of the tournament (their district playoffs had them playing today at the same time). Therefore, we advanced to our next game against...
KA All-Stars: Sadly, the head game continues as we lost to KA by our largest margin (being 10-runned). Things just weren't clicking for our boys; something they've gotta figure out before next weekend. That being said, every time we've played them, they have batted 9 or 10 (in anticipation of State). We have always batted our entire lineup. It's a good thing for all the boys to bat. When we get to State, any one of them will be able to step in and do what they need to do at the plate. Hopefully, it will pay off when it counts.
