We are the Champions, my friends!

Our first out-of-town tournament for 2010 was in Wenatchee. The final weekend of June took us up north to play. Although our rival KA All-Stars weren't there, their Tournament Team was.

We started the our pool play against one of our local teams, the Warriors. It's a team made up of a variety of players from KN, KA, Pasco, and Richland. We played well against them, 10-running them in 4 innings. We followed that win with another 10-run win against Eastmont, before facing the KA Tournament Team.

Nicholas started that game pitching...and pitching well. Sadly, the one person who disagreed was the ump behind the plate. So many close (and questionable) calls. Looking back at the video, it was even more telling. So after 2 innings (and facing more batters than he should have), Nicholas finished pitching. Very telling was a comment made by one of his team mates when the boys came off the field at the end of the 2nd inning. "Nick must have struck out like 10 batters!" Even 10-year old boys know a strike when they see one! In the end, our boys 10-runned KA, giving us the #1 seed for our pool (3-0 record).

Entering into bracket play (single elimination), we faced our hosts, the Wenatchee All-Stars. Guess we weren't very good guests as we 10-runned their team.

Next up....Port Angeles. Nicholas pitched 3 innings against their All-Stars, giving up just one run (and that one was unearned). Final score: 14-1.

After watching the end of the Eastmont-Gig Harbor (to determine who we'd be playing in the championship game), we ended up facing Eastmont one more time. Our boys prove why they were the #1 team at this tournament. They beat Eastmont a second time, 12-2....and 10-runned every one of the six teams they faced.

GO KN! GO Big Red!
